一个在天上织云彩,一个在地上放牛,他们本来住在两个不同的世界。
One weaves clouds in heaven, and one tends an ox on earth. At first, they live in different worlds.

传说里,织女是天上的仙女,她每天在天上织出美丽的云彩。

牛郎住在人间,是一个勤劳又善良的年轻人。

一个在天上,一个在地上,他们原本离得很远很远。

可是故事说,他们的命运后来还是走到了一起。

In the legend, the Weaver Girl is a fairy in heaven who weaves beautiful clouds.

The Cowherd lives on earth and is a hardworking, kind young man.

One is in heaven and one is on earth, so at first they are very far apart.

But the story says their paths still moved toward each other in the end.

They Meet

牛郎和织女慢慢喜欢上了彼此,还一起有了自己的家和孩子。
The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl slowly fall in love and build a home with children together.

有一天,织女来到人间,在河边遇见了牛郎。

牛郎真诚,织女温柔,两个人慢慢喜欢上了彼此。

后来,他们留在人间生活,成了亲,还有了一儿一女。

他们的日子平凡,可是很温暖,也很快乐。

One day, the Weaver Girl came down to earth and met the Cowherd by a river.

The Cowherd was sincere, and the Weaver Girl was gentle. Slowly, they fell in love.

Later, they stayed on earth, married, and had a son and a daughter.

Their life was simple, but it was warm and happy.

他们被分开了

They Are Separated

天上的王母娘娘知道这件事以后,把织女带回天上,还划出一条天河。
When the Queen Mother of the West learns what happened, she takes the Weaver Girl back to heaven and draws a river of stars.

可是天上的规矩不愿意让织女一直留在人间。

王母娘娘知道这件事以后,很生气,把织女带回了天上。

牛郎带着两个孩子追上去,可是王母娘娘用金簪在天空一划,天河就出现了。

从那以后,牛郎和织女只能站在天河两边,远远地看着对方。

But the rules of heaven did not allow the Weaver Girl to stay on earth forever.

When the Queen Mother of the West learned what had happened, she became angry and took the Weaver Girl back to heaven.

The Cowherd chased after her with their two children, but the Queen Mother drew a shining river across the sky.

From then on, the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl could only look at each other from opposite sides of the heavenly river.

喜鹊桥

The Magpie Bridge

每到农历七月初七,喜鹊会飞来搭成一座桥,让他们见上一面。
On the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, magpies fly together to form a bridge so they can meet once a year.

他们的思念感动了天上的喜鹊。

每年农历七月初七,很多很多喜鹊会飞来,用翅膀搭成一座桥。

在这一天,牛郎和织女终于能在桥上见一面,也能和孩子团聚。

后来,人们把这一天叫作七夕,也会在夏天的夜晚抬头看星星,想起这个故事。

Their longing touched the magpies in the sky.

Every year, on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, countless magpies fly together and form a bridge with their wings.

On that day, the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl can meet once more and be together with their children.

Later, people called this day Qixi and looked up at the summer stars while remembering the story.
