Long ago, ten suns shone down at once, and the world grew too hot to bear.
传说里，很久很久以前，天上突然出现了十个太阳。
河水快干了，田地裂开了，人和动物都热得很难受。
这时候，有一位很厉害的英雄叫后羿。
他拉开神弓，射下了九个太阳，只留下一个照亮世界。
In the legend, ten suns suddenly appeared in the sky long, long ago.
Rivers nearly dried up, fields cracked, and people and animals suffered in the heat.
At that time, there was a great hero named Hou Yi.
He lifted his magic bow and shot down nine of the suns, leaving only one to light the world.

Hou Yi and Chang'e
Hou Yi asks Chang'e to keep a magic medicine safe, not knowing it will change everything.
后羿的妻子叫嫦娥，她善良又温柔。
有一天，后羿得到了一颗仙药。听说谁吃了它，谁就能飞到天上去。
可是后羿不想离开嫦娥，所以把仙药交给她保管。
那时候，他们谁也不知道，这颗小小的仙药以后会带来多大的变化。
Hou Yi's wife was named Chang'e. She was gentle and kind.
One day, Hou Yi received a magic medicine. People said that whoever swallowed it could rise to the sky.
But Hou Yi did not want to leave Chang'e, so he asked her to keep it safe.
At that moment, neither of them knew how much that tiny medicine would change their future.

The Greedy Peng Meng
Peng Meng wants to steal the medicine, and Chang'e must make a quick choice.
后羿有一个弟子叫蓬蒙，他知道了仙药的事，也想把它抢走。
有一天，后羿出门去了，蓬蒙闯进家里，逼嫦娥把仙药交出来。
嫦娥心里明白，如果这样坏的人吃了仙药，一定会做更多坏事。
所以她抢在前面，把仙药吞了下去。
Hou Yi had a student named Peng Meng, and he learned about the magic medicine.
One day, while Hou Yi was away, Peng Meng burst into the house and demanded it.
Chang'e understood that if such a greedy man gained that power, he could do terrible things.
So she acted first and swallowed the medicine herself.

Flying Toward the Moon
After Chang'e flies to the moon, Hou Yi can only look up and miss her from earth.
吃下仙药以后，嫦娥觉得身体越来越轻。
她慢慢飞出窗外，飞向又高又远的月亮。
后羿回家以后找不到她，只能站在地上望着夜空，一遍一遍叫她的名字。
后来，人们每到八月十五就会赏月、吃月饼，也会想起嫦娥的故事。
After swallowing the medicine, Chang'e felt her body grow lighter and lighter.
Slowly, she floated out the window and rose toward the faraway moon.
When Hou Yi came home, he could not find her. He could only stand below the night sky and call her name again and again.
Later, people began to admire the moon and eat mooncakes on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month, remembering Chang'e's story.

所以很多人一讲到中秋节，就会想起嫦娥、后羿和月亮上的玉兔。
这个故事让月亮不只是月亮，也变成了思念、爱和团圆的象征。
